During a recent trip to the park while babysitting, I overheard a child say, “Look! I’m elevated!” When he got to the top of a climbing apparatus. His choice of words struck me: Elevated.
What would it mean to seek moments of “elevation” throughout our lives?
Imagine climbing through life’s obstacles and having the wisdom to acknowledge when we reach a new understanding. I believe that elevation occurs when we can sense that our inner qualities of understanding, focus, resilience, and patience have been sharpened. Living life “elevated” could also mean accepting both the good and the bad as steps upwards on our path to personal growth. What a beautiful thought.
So, the next time you are struggling to get through a situation, be it big or small, know that you will come out knowing more about yourself than you knew before. You will make it through, and when you do, don’t forget to say to yourself, “look, I’m elevated!”
